The successful candidate will work alongside highly skilled Fire Safety Engineers and Fire Safety Consultants with a wealth of experience and proven track record of driving results for our ever-growing client base. Regent Fire Consultants was founded in 2019, specialising in Fire Safety Engineering, Forensic Investigation as well as all aspects of Fire Safety. Since 2019 we have expanded our UK office to include two locations in the Republic of Ireland. In doing so we have grown our portfolio to include projects such as Battersea Power Station and Lucent, Piccadilly Lights in the heart of London. Summary of responsibilities for this role (which you will be fully supported with):

  • Provide continuous high quality fire safety services to our customers/clients.
  • Develop comprehensive Fire Strategy and Compliance Reports in accordance with legislative and insurer requirements, relevant standards and industry guidance for all types of buildings including fire engineered and complex buildings.
  • Prepare marked up fire safety drawings using CAD to accompany the Fire Strategy Reports;
  • Carry out site familiarisation, compliance and assessment visits.
  • Provide sound and relevant professional opinion on key fire safety/engineering matters to customers/clients/colleagues both orally and in writing.
  • Review, analyse and report on technical documentation and fire safety strategies prepared by colleagues and other organisations.
  • Liaise with enforcing and approving authorities such as Fire and Rescue Service, Building Control etc. where necessary.
  • Represent Regent Fire Consultants at design team meetings with design team members and approving authorities involved in building design and construction.

 Qualifications:

Essential

  • An engineering degree/level 7 in the built environment. This includes civil engineering, building engineering, building engineering (& renewable energy or fire safety), or fire safety engineering.
  • You must be available to work from our Galway based office. Flexible working packages are available and will be discussed with the successful candidate, once the induction and training period is complete.
  • Candidates must be proficient in the use of CAD (computer aided design)
  • Candidates must be extremely proficient in the use of Microsoft programmes, particularly Word and Excel;
  • Candidates must demonstrate a good understanding of the Irish Building Regulations, with particular focus on Part B of the Building Regulations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be confident in using own initiative and lead out on projects/case management (support from management will be given to develop this area).
  • Candidates must be comfortable working within a team but also individually.
  • You must have the right to work in the European Union to be considered for this position.

Desirable:

  • A degree/qualification in fire safety engineering, preferably Level 7 or higher
  • A Level 8 or higher qualification in another relevant built environment discipline (e.g., civil engineering, structural engineering, construction project management etc.)
  • Skill with PDF editing software
  • Knowledge/understanding of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Detailed knowledge of part B of the building regulations.
  • Candidates will ideally be working towards Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland but this is not essential for the role application. The postholder will be supported through the process to achieve Chartered Engineer status.
