Fire Risk Management
History of fires shows us that one of the main contributing factors to deaths from fire in commercial and industrial buildings, is as a result of poor Fire Risk Management as opposed to inadequate building design or inadequate fire protection equipment. Fire Risk Management must therefore be given as much attention and resource as that of providing physical fire protection measures.
An organisation should evaluate the risks (paying attention to its context) by determining and recording the fire safety aspects which can have significant impact on life, property, the environment and the continuity of the business.
Fire Risk Management Strategy
Following the principles of British Standard code of practice BS 9997 we can support you through the process of developing an appropriate Fire Risk Management Strategy to deal with the risks posed to both people and your organisation.
Where an organisation has existing strategies and systems in place, we can audit current systems and strategies and provide detailed gap analysis to identify any areas for improvement.
Part of an organisation’s fire risk management system is a fire safety policy. The policy sets out the organisation’s commitment and intent to fire safety. We can work with you in producing policy and procedures which fit with your organisation’s operational requirements enabling you to manage risk effectively.

Fire Risk Assessment
Where fire safety legislation applies, there is a legal requirement placed upon those in control of buildings to carry out a fire risk assessment. Regent Fire Consultants are competent and third party certificated to the Life Safety Fire Risk Assessment Silver Scheme and BAFE SP205 Life Safety Fire Risk Assessment Scheme through the National Security Inspectorate (NSI).
Our highly trained fire risk assessors will carry out a methodical and organised inspection of your premises identifying hazards and determining the adequacy and effectiveness of your fire safety measures, providing a clear action plan to ensure that you comply with the legislation. What sets us apart from our competitors is our significant experience with enforcement and prosecution within UK Fire and Rescue Services, meaning that we can give you assurance that you are achieving the minimum standards required by legislation without over specifying. Where your organisation wishes to go over and above the minimum standards, then we can outline what additional measures are necessary to protect your property and maintain business continuity.
Healthcare Authorising Fire Engineer
Firecode HTM 05-01 recommends that healthcare organisations commission the services of an independent fire engineer to act as the Authorising Engineer (Fire) for the organisation. The Authorising Engineer (Fire) acts as an assessor, makes recommendations for appointing Authorised Persons responsible for fire safety, monitors the performance of fire safety management and provides an annual audit to board level directors responsible for fire safety.
Firecode expects the Authorising Engineer (Fire) to be a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (or a chartered member of a similar professional body). Our Chartered Engineers are registered with the Engineering Council and Engineers Ireland and have significant healthcare fire safety experience advising hospital trusts on Building Regulations, Fire Safety Engineering and legislative fire safety. As well as having substantial experience carrying out fire risk analysis, our team has extensive experience working at a strategic level advising on fire risk management strategies and producing strategic plans to safely deal with fire protection deficiencies, whilst balancing the operational requirements of hospitals.
