Duncan studied at Leeds University where he graduated in 2000 with a Batchelor of Science degree with Honours in Fire Safety. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role as a Fire Safety Consultant with Regent Fire.

Duncan’s career within fire has spanned an impressive 40+ years specialising in a number of roles within the UK Fire and Rescue Service as a Fire Safety Inspector/Manager, Operational Firefighter, Station Manager and Fire Investigator.

Duncan was the head of the fire engineering/building regulations planning team within West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority delivering the Fire Authority’s responsibilities under the building regulations approval process. He has significant experience working on design projects as a regulator and as a fire safety consultant designing buildings to code-compliant and fire engineered designs.

Duncan’s specialisms:

• Provision of fire safety/fire safety engineering advice, solutions and fire risk assessments on simple and complex projects and development of fire strategies for new and existing buildings.
• Liaison with approving and enforcing authorities such as Building Control, Fire and Rescue Service, HSE, Environmental Health and Licensing.
• Fire origin, cause and spread investigation.
• Training and mentoring fire safety engineers/consultants, fire safety inspectors and operational firefighters.
